I agree, it would be damn cool to read about Butler's past, but I think Artemis when he's older would be interesting, or maybe Juliet and her wrestling? Or maybe about Julius Root's various encounters and showdowns with Mulch?

So many possibilities...

Yeah. I like the older Artemis idea. What does he end up doing? Root and Mulch also sounds cool. I bet that would be kind of funny.

*cough*myidea*cough*

Haha...JK...I am sure that I was not the first to think of that...maybe just the first to be totally obsessed with it. I am all for Butler's past and maybe a *cough*romanticinterest*cough*. Or maybe I should never have gone to Crim and gotten the idea of a Bond!Butler in my head...

Judging by his descriptions in the book we can hope to whatevers up there, whether it's a flying cow or god, that he's celibate... if he's not pity his lover who clearly walks around like a penguin all day.

Oh I know that I was not the first...but everyone from the old forum knows how Butler!obsessed I am/was. Tell 'em, guys!

I can totally picture Butler in a romantic relationship...and remember that he likes romance novels and romantic movies...sounds like he is quite the romantic person...but this thread is getting WAY off topic...poor Mr. Colfer if he tries to read all of it... Razz

Sure it does! Haven't you seen those movies where the butler/body guard always fall in love with some woman who's equally tough or a maid or something? (I was watching Parent trap...)

ZOMG! Mr Colfer. Wow! *deep breath* I love your books. I first got hooked on Artemis Fowl. OK I confess it was because of the shiney shiney covers. Then I was force to read the third in the book shop becuase I couldn't afford to buy it hardback. I cried like a little girl when Butler told Artemis his first name. Like a little girl, the last time I cried at a fictional story was when I was 7 and watched King Kong in black and white and the big monkey died. *sniff* This of cource is very embarassing behaviour in a crowded book shop when you are already drawing attention to yourself by being 21 and sitting on the floor reading a book from the 9-13 range.

I wont mention what happened to me when I read the fourth. How could you! Little girl doesn't even begin to cover my emotions.

As for Half Moon Investigations, read it in about 3 hours Very Happy . I really don't think you know what you've unleashed on the fandom in the form of Red and Fletcher though. I'd stay away from any sort of fanfiction, I've seen what fangirls have done to Draco and Harry. Shocked

All I can say is your books make me feel like the 12 year old boy I never was. (on a more personal note I think my inner boy child is probably gay as I fancy both Red and Fletcher Exclamation )

I didn't so much cry over Root as gasp aloued. I was waiting to go into a lecture and my mate was making fun of me reading a childrens book but I was somewhere else. I sat there open mouth thinking, oh my god you can't do this. This is not happening. Oh god Eoin is going to sacrifice Root. Noooooooooooo, then several profanities that I couldn't possibly post on a forum where Mr Colfer might read them.

It makes me choke up every time I read it. I really did cry in public when I thought Butler was dead though. Both characters are and were such solid people and not the in the least likely to have a target painted on their back in the literary world.

The book would not have been half as good if he hadn't died though and was merely incapacitated. Deep.

I did something like that. I went "AUGH! NOOO!!! #$Q$%$Q^^&$&^&! THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!"

Then my siblings looked at me like I had sprouted antennae. Embarassed Which, unfortunately, is a common occurance...
