Um....I don't really know about snowboarding, but the first time I went skiing it really sucked because I was falling on my but every 2 minutes. But after that it seemed easier for me. I think that how long it takes to be fairly functional on skis or a snowboard really depends on each individual person. Some people just seem to have a natural knack for it! :>
I do not suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it!

Ah I usually learn in my ski camp. There my friend usually give me good tips to to ski better... :>

I tried Snow boarding for half a day in my ski camp. It's quite Fun but it's really tiring. Now I understand why snowboarders always sit down when they halt... ;)

I love snowboarding. I've been doing it for years. Since I was like 4.....I'm now 17.

I've only skiied once, but I had a knack for it apparently. It was so much fun, I loved it!

But Snowboarding takes real skill.

Well, since this wasn't from very long ago i'd like to jump in and keep this thread going.

You all are complaining that snowboarders fall down a lot. I chose snowboarding by the way. I have had a long taste from both sides and i know, that when you fall on your butt in skiis it's damned hard to get back up. I did skiing for about four years in New Zealand, then started Snoboarding in Canada and i loved it. I would say, it takes a week to learn to snowboard properly, then you fine. But when ever you go long periods without actuall snowboarding you get rusty and it's very scary. I remeber on my first time i went down a double black and accidently went of a massive jump flailing. So my coah he like. "WHoa. You just did a 720 backflip". And yes it was an accident. And i prefer blue runs better because they are generally flat and you can just sail down the slopes without having to steer through tricky complex turns and mogels. Not to mention trees.

Griffar, you came ot New Zealand? Where abouts did you ski?

Snowboarding looks cooler, but I prefer to ski. Although I've only ever actually been skiing/snowboarding once, and that was on a school camp thing =3 But I found skis easier to control than the snowboard, and I felt much more comfortable coming down the higher, rockier courses on skis. Also, everyone told me that I was a natural skier, so I gained confidence in it pretty quickly, whereas with snowboarding I really sucked XD

We went to the Remarkables. They have nice snow, but i want to go to Japan and snowboard there. I have been to Canad once and i don't really want to go back to NZ because the snow in Canada is sooo much better. But if we talk about scenery and movie locations, NZ would be my pick.

Everytime I've ever been "skiing" I actually went tubing.
Personally, though... I'd like to try snowboarding. This past trip to to West Virginia I was drooling all over the snow boarders and how cool they looked.
