I read the books before seeing the movie. The books are quite long but interesting because everything is described. The movies sum up very well the books and have been my favorite ones since 3 years!
The actors are great and Peter Jackson is excellent!

I am an obsessed fan of LotR. I love the books and movies both. I do agree that the books are extremely descriptive, but I grew to love that after reading them a few times. It makes the story seem more real...
"But what, Ron? What could be wrong?"
"I've got a secret affliction!"
"Disgusting!"
"You don't even know what it is, Harry! It's lice."
"Get. Out."

"Ah, Harry! I've been waiting for you. Avada Ke-"
"No time to chat, Voldemort! Gotta go!
"Oh, but, but... *sob* every time I try to kill Harry..."

The LOTR is great, but I think I've watched the movies a few too many times  I have the extended version, anyone else have it?
But yeah, the books are too slow paced for my tastes, just compare them to Artemis or something like that. But I'm sure the books were super popular when they came out cause there was hardly anything like that back when they were written.

^ The extendeds are awesome.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen any of the movies in ages. Which, for me, means it's probably been a month or two. I should try to remedy that this weekend.

Ah, LotR... my first online fandom... XD

I've watched them countless times and I never get tired of them *sigh* Which reminds me, I must watch one tomorrow.

I have the EE of The Two Towers, but not the other two... what is wrong with me?! I keep forgetting to buy the others *sob* And I really want to see the Mouth of Sauron. Wait, maybe youtube has it? *goes off to check*

Ooooh, yes, you absolutely do want to see the Mouth of Sauron. Especially because after he first speaks, Aragorn makes this really awesome, guh-worthy face and raises his eyebrows like, "Really? Really?" When we first got the RotK EE (wow, I haven't used that acronym in ages... I need to start talking about LotR more) I put it on a loop and watched it over and over again. XD

We all have our fangirly moments.

Yes! They did have it on Youtube. Yay, I can watch most of extra scenes now. But still, I'd like to see them incorporated into the movie, instead of just choppy like I'm watching them *begins to save money* I have got to stop spending so much moolah...

I'm sure you can rent the EEs, if you don't want to dish out the $30 times three (or whatever they're going for nowadays) to buy 'em.

The best movie ever!
This adaptation sums up perfectly the novel, the actors are simply perfect and Peter Jackson too. The way they made the movie is absolutly fantastic with all the new technics they used, the special effect and so on.

LotR is absolutely amazing.
I am fascinated about the whole idea of creating a new world of ones own. Languages, history, maps...I really wish I could meet Tolkien. What kind of person would delve so deep in his work?
Though it took me aaaages to read the books, I love. The language is sometimes tough, I agree with Voldy that JRT does tend to describe a lot. If the books are read aloud, it sounds almost like music to me! I love it.

I love LotR. Gotta be my favorite movies, and second-favorite book series. It's absolutely amazing. There was one thing I was mad about, that in the books,
Spoiler:
when Merry and Pippin get taken by the uruk hai, Pippin is the one who gets them out. He has a moment of serious genius-i-ness, and they cut it outta the movie! Jerks!

Ehem. If you can tell, I'm a fan of Pip. :D He's my favorite fictional character. So insanely awesome.

Pippin's my favourite character too - I was annoyed when they cut that out as well! I felt sorry for him because Gandalf's horrible to him - 'Knock on the door with your head, Peregrin, and if that does not shatter them...'
Thankyou for my avvie, Rain! I luv it!!!

Do not let the Cat out. No matter what I tell you. :shiny:

*squee* Pippin fan! :D I'm not alone here!
Merry and Pip both get jipped in that movie. They get all their good parts cut out!
