Anyway, they have found out that the nations have been divided up by race as well as elements so:

Water Tribe: White
Air Nomads: White
Earth Kingdom: East Asian (Korean, Chinese etc.)
Fire Nation: South Asian (eg, Indians, Pakistainis etc.)

So Toph, will be the only character who looks like what she's supposed to be.

I think the Air Nomads are pretty acurate. Although I think that the Water Tribe should be Hawaiian or Native American looking.

OMG!!! They should have the girl from Slumdog Millionaire be Katara!!! That'd be amazing.....and she's gorgeous (:

PRINCE OF PERSIA IS WHITE?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

South Asian???? South Asia is Malayasia, the Phillippines, Thailand....etc.

Pakistan & Iran & etc are Western Asia (:

PAIGE CLAIM!!!!!

Actually, I've noticed that in the US, Indians, Pakistanis and Bangledeshis are referred to as South Asians. I don't know why, as over here in the UK its a little different. But that's what the casting directors are referring it as.

Personally, I think the Air Nomads should be from Tiebet.

I'm fine with the cast for the movie *shot*

What I'm just saying people are predicting doom and gloom before they have even seen a full fledged non teaser (though i did enjoy the teaser) Trailer
There's a flaw in the system, as usual

I actualy look like HARRY POTTER!!!

*points to Africa on a map*
This is Africa. And waaaaaaaay up here is the Ukraine.
*points*
See the difference?

=-= also, it's a hanbok. Not a kimono.

Not saying anything about the lederhosen. Those look silly on anyone, no offense to the culture they were meant for.

Also, I agree with most of the cast except...Katara. She's TOO white. I understand Mr. Rathbone is also white, but his facial structure makes him look more the part. Katara is just a pretty white girl in a parka.

And I'm white btw so don't be sayin' I'm racist.

That's what the last 15 or so posts have been about. Try reading the forum rules and using better grammar.

As for the casting issues, I really don't see a problem. Yes, the characters on the show are supposed to be Asian, but it's just a movie about a cartoon. I don't think people should make a big deal about it.

I see your point there
more people are starting to make bigger deals about book and cartoon adaptations!!!
but jackson rathbone playing sokka has a lot of people wondering
"Is he going to act the role accurately or poorly???"

OK, first of all, I love Avatar! squee! *obsessed*
ok, sorry.

I think it was the summer of 2008 when I really got into it. Whenever the premiere of Sozin's Comet was. They had a series marathon, where they showed every episode in a row for like a week straight, leading up to the finale, so I watched it all and I became obsessed.
I love Zuko.

The movie is going to be so bad! I'll still watch it though, but it just is not going to be good. I mean, there was potential to make it cool, with seeing the bending and all in live action, but the actors just look so bad.

Obsessed with...Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Artemis Fowl, Maximum Ride, Avatar the Last Airbender....and proud
I am eternally greatful to xybolic for introducing me to Ouran High School Host Club, which I am now completely obsessed with!!

Does anyone else find it obnoxious that they're pronouncing Sokka's name as SOH-CAH with a long O, instead of SAH-CAH, with a short O, like they did in the actual series? It's not like a book character, where you can misinterpret how to pronounce something. They actually said it that way throughout the entire show.

That's awful. And reminds me of this:
