I've always thought this series was kind of overrated, but recently I've got really hooked on the Eleventh Doctor episodes (which are the only ones I've watched - I also saw a bit of End Of Time, but it didn't manage to keep my attention). Actually, all I've seen are Beast Below, Victory of the Daleks, Time of Angels, Flesh and Stone and the latter half of Eleventh Hour. But I think it's a good place that I've dropped in.
I have to say, the actors aren't exactly spectacular (Karen Gillan is, and I'm sorry to say this, not good at Scared), and the series as whole is taking itself too seriously. The smart one-liners aren't always as smart as they think they are, and the scripts, while generally interesting, is leaning too heavily on the wacky, ingenius unpredictability of the characters.
Yet, as a whole, I quite like it. Or, at least I like the Matt Smith episodes.
