OMG, YES! YES! YES!!! I looove Nathaniel. If you have never read the Bartimaeus trilogy, go read it now.

*spoiler*

Nasty, nasty, nassssty Jon for killing off my Nathaniel. He died a heroes death, though. I cried so hard when Nathaniel died. I wish that Bartimaeus could find a door to death through the Other Place and bring Nathaniel back so he and Kitty could hook up. HUGE Nate/Kitty shipper!

*end spoiler*

The Dream Merchant is also a good book...

Very Happy

I've read The Dream Merchant too! It's the book by Isabel Hoving, right?

I love the drummer – can't remember his name though.

And, not many people seem to have read Juliet Marillier's books yet. =[ They're probably some of the best books I've ever read! If you're into Historical Fiction and Fantasy you should read it. Soon! So we can talk about it. XD

I've read To Kill a Mocking Bird and Lord of the flies :P And I agree, amazing. Though To Kill A mocking bird is of a much higher quality. To kill a mocking bird is.... one of the best books ever written. Possibly the best. It's not my favourite, but's still probably the best

To Kill a Mockingbird is amazing- definitely one of my favorite books. My sister's reading it in English class now, and she finds it a bit dull, which makes me sad. XD

Bookworm-ilovebooks wrote:uncle johns big bathroom book

Hee- that one's high-class literature, is it?

And The Westing Game! I'd totally forgotten about it- thanks for reminding me. :)

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller- It's a bit long but it's so funny it makes for it.
Anything and everthing written by Douglas Adams- Same as above.
A Brave New Word by Aldous Huxley- I just started it a few days ago and so far it's really good.
The Lottery and other short stories by Shirley Jackson-
Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maitenence- by Robert Pirsig

I've heard a lot about that book but I've never quite gotten around to reading it. What's it about?

I know my reply is a bit late but I love that book! That was one of the books my cousin let me borrow a while back and it was incredible.

Anything by Chuck Palahniuk. Especially Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, and Choke. It's wonderful insight into the way people are the way they are. Just fantastic books.

Haha, better late then never. I do need to reread those now.

I LOVED the Westing Game! I liked how it was put together as a puzzle!

Hmmm.... Have I mentioned The Princess Bride: Good Parts Version by William Goldman/S.Morgenstern (oddly, there is no other version, and they're the same guy)? It's my favorite more serious book. I say that only because Artemis Fowl and other books that I ADORE are made more for YA and Teen, but The Princess Bride was made to appeal to everybody. And I'm fairly confident it does.

Also Lord of the Flies by William Golding (strange: two of my favorite authors have almost identical names, but radically different writing styles). Really creepy, but amazing, if you like that sort of thing.

The Book Theif by Markus Zusak. SO amazing. Words can't even comprehend it.

Also I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak. This one has a creative plot: A kid named Ed Kennedy recieves playing cards with adresses on them, and for each adress there is someone he has to help. It's also a bit of a love story, and possibly the most feelgood book I've ever read.

And if there was one book that I couldn't reccommend more highly, it's the Abarat series by Clive Barker. A girl named Candy Quackenbush is dissatisfied with her boring life and decides to run away, when in the middle of a feild in Minesota she finds a lighthouse, the John Brothers. Candy is then called on to summon the sea of Izabella out of a cloud, and in the sea she finds herself in the amazing Islands of Abarat. In the Abarat, there are twenty five islands, one for every hour of the day and an extra, the Time Out Of Time. Here time is not just time, it's also a PLACE. But the adventures don't stop there, and Candy soon realizes that while there are bright Hours in the Abarat, there are also those of Darkness.

I must say that at the moment, one of my favorite books is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I love it soo much. Now I just need to read the others....

Others would be anything by Tamora Pierce. Her stuff is kind of feministic, but oh so good.
