I could never relate to Piper... she gets mushy at times... :P I'm the Leo in my group, the one who's jokes people groan at :P Actually, most of us are Leos, groaning at each others' jokes :P

Yes, Ella is cute, but did anybody else find that this one was far better than TLH? I think it was- the characters have more depth and better backstories.

yeah, I agree. but maybe it\s just tht thing that while reading a sieres (in the middle, not after you've read everything seven times) then the last one always seem the best, doesn't it?

It's usually that way, but with some series (like AF) the last book seems like a tiny expansion on the second-last.
I have to say, Hazel is a much better character than Piper- she doesn't have the obvious "damsel in distress" thing going on.

Okay, this thread hasn't been posted on for ages… although I have no idea why.

I really liked The Son of Neptune, especially the flashback scenes from Hazel's POV.

Also, what did people think of the Nico thing (I'm not going to spoil it) from the House of Hades?

I don't mind. I mean, I was really surprised when I read it, but it was a good twist and I never would've guessed. It was an awesome scene, and I like that it kinda showed the other side of Cupid, not just the cute little baby on Valentine cards, but something that Jason describes as "the most savage monster of all".

In my opinion, that's a pretty good description of Heroes of Olympus Cupid. Poor Nico.

As someone who has finished the series, I liked all of the heroes. I felt pity for Annabeth, Nico, Piper, and Leo the most at the end. And I was really happy with how Riordan ended it. Kind of like he left it a little open for continuation, but also a satisfying ending for everyone.

Anyone else finish? What did you think of the last book?

omg i am in love with the series it IS AWESOME. i wish the movies were good tho. i love all the heroes especially Nico and Leo they're the best. i love piper and annabeth, they're awesome!!! and OMG REYNA ROLE MODEL awesomeness. so yeah basically my second favorite book series but i didn't like the way the blood of olympus ended

Spoiler:
so yeah, they all saved the day, but you know what disappointed me? no one died. like, yeah i'm hella happy everyone lived but seriously? life for a half-blood is not that smooth. he let everyone of the big seven live and paired EVERYONE up. even nico, but not directly ;)
and it ended in that "and everyone lives happily ever after!!" i personally liked the percy jackson series better than the heroes of Olympus, and i really like the fact that it was more realistic than HOO. silena and charlie and all those other characters. and i liked that it was more confusing and adventurous. (although it was awesome in BoO when each god joined their son/daughter and fought beside them, it was totally awesome) and yeah, i was really happy that RR used those references about HG and DW, but still. i was expecting a better book and i wouldn't have minded if i had to wait a few more months for a better one.

but still, not a reason to hate the whole series if the last book was just not what i expected, I'm actually gonna get an CHB and SPQR shirt in the summer to wear at the beach!! yaaaaay!

btw, daughter of hades. you?

Spoiler:
Honestly, I was glad no one good died (well, besides Leo for a time, but he came back). I was tense the whole time reading it, and when I realized Riordan was actually going to kill someone off, I kept thinking about if Leo was going to die or there was going to be a plot twist and someone else would. So, my brain was simultaneously being melted by overloading while reading Blood of Olympus. :P But I can see what you mean about comparing it with The Last Olympian.

I haven't even checked yet. :P I should find a good site to figure that out. Just to see which camp I'm in, Roman or Greek.

In the Blood of Olympus, the victory over the giants and Gaea did seem a little easy, but I guess the book focused more on the "inner struggle" kinds of things—
Spoiler:
Jason and the ghost of his mother, Reyna "killing" her father, Nico, who thinks he's not accepted and doesn't even like himself all that much, Piper and the fact that her powers aren't all that flashy.
