noone can claim tha takin down rainforests doesent bother the living creatures... :eyeroll:

Then that raises the question of which is worse? The short term affects (eg. birds getting caught in beer can rings) or the long term affects of Global warming, and which should we tackle first? And the machinary used to harvest rainforests gives off harmful greenhouse gases and even Sulfur Dioxide, but mostly CO2 of which isn't getting used up by plants as the plants have been distroyed.

And where is your basis for it, I am not trying to denny it, but if you can say it with such certainity you should have credible sources in your hand. Can you bring some link or books references so we can react it?

Simply type the keywords in your search engine. "Global Warming" There you have it... thousands of references.

It's mostly common sense. Didn't it ever come into your mind that the earth could be destroyed by our own sun? The Sun is hot right? and our ozone layer is breaking (check out Australia's ozone) With all our pollution that affects these layers, The earth will be very very vulnerable from the sun's heat, which makes the Earth... or shall we say Globe, warm. Warmer... and warmer... GLOBAL WARMING

Do you even watch History channels, Nat Geo, Discovery Channels? Maybe Artemis Fowl II can explain it further... just kidding..

I believe these phenomena occur because the Earth gets from us what we have taken from her. Mother Nature's REVENGE... bwahahaha.. *evil laugh

Sorry to disapoint you but common sense is in most time bulshits. Don't drag common sense into debate rather go for exact data. And revenge is rather funny idea as well. Yeas global warming is fact, I agree with you on this one, but in history of planet are natural cycles of periond when Earth become warmer and period when it get colder.

Real question does mankind have significant role in current GW? Will it continue long enough do any damage? Will climate change? Etc.

(You know in middleage my country had many good vineyards cause it was warmer period, maybe It would be nice if GW continued a bit longer and get at similiar level again  )

Ok not most time. (I am a bit sorry for hars tone), but I get goosebumps whenever I encounter common (non)sense pretending be common sense as people who think: vegetarianism is healthy, nuclear energy is evil, evolution is proved and many others modern my.ths.

That's not common sense, that's OPINION. Common sense is knowing not to jump in front of a train or stick your wet finger (or something else O.o) into a plug socket ect...

Here's what I believe:
The earth has natural cycles where it warms or cools down. I believe all this hysteria over global warming is very ill-founded. I think that this supposed global warming is just one of the earth's natural warming cycles. (has anyone even mentioned the medieval warm period here?). Right now, I will go so far as to say that the earth is cooling. And I absolutely do not believe that co2 is the problem.
Overall, I believe that even if the earth was warming, it's from nature and not co2 or humans.

I did  But even though I know these things (and sayd that from same standpoint as you), I wouldn't reject possibility of mankind affecting climate entirely. But take it as one of factors not as only existing though.

Personally I think that the amount of CO2 pollution humans are currently letting loose in the atmosphere definitely is having an impact on the Earth's health, but not for the typical reasons.

For example, I read somewhere recently that the Earth's balance is veryyyyy fragile, in that the Earth is able to handle it's own pollution (eg volcanic eruptions) just fine; the effects are countered by the ocean, as the water absorbs alot of the pollution.

For example: It was something like the Earth releases 100000tonnes of green house gases each year. Then the ocean absorbs 100000tonnes of green house gases each year, thus countering the effects. Then humans come along and release a further 20000tonnes of green house gases per year and this upsets the balance.

My point being that although we are releasing lots of CO2 into the atmosphere, this is not the reason the Earth is in meltdown. The reason is simply because the Earth cant handle the extra load.

Anyway what do you think? Is Global Warming real? Is it a threat? Can we prevent it?

First and foremost. Why only CO2? Methane has a much larger greenhouse effect.

I certainly think global warming is real, but not because of human influence. Is it a threat? No, not really. We really need to slow down our consumption, though.

Studies have shown that there have been 90, 000 year long ice ages separated by 10, 000 years of warmth. We have been due for an ice age for millennia.

A point about Earth's climate over the past billion years... Most of the mass extinctions were caused by natural climate change or mass overpopulation by a certain species. The largest being the "Great Dying" around 250 million years ago was "caused" by global warming. Namely, it occurred because of an asteroid impact, a huge influx in volcanic activity, sea level fluctuations and abnormal ocean currents due to formation of Pangaea. In this extinction, 84% of genera died out. Incredibly unlikely to ever happen again and it proves that animals can survive in such conditions. What species is better at surviving than humans? The most likely cause of human extinction would be ourselves.

Some have speculated that humans will live till the end of the universe, others say we won't live to see the next century. So, what will it be?
