Ohh, no. It's not really a problem, it just popped into my mind while looking through this forum.

Well, I already did it xD Though I think it would've been done anyway - might confuse users and clutter up the forum.

I think it's a good idea, what you guys did, and I was here last Sunday watching when you did it. All the pictures that they kept posting were getting annoying, but I just tried to ignore them and continue the discussion.
I'll miss the "you know you're addicted to AF" forum though, even though half the reasons were totally crap. We'll never get to 2000....

tahtswutshesed wrote:I have a quick question, and I know it won't be 50 words, but what happens to locked threads? Do you guys eventually delete them? I'm only asking 'cause sometimes, I don't see the locked symbol on the side at first, and I go into the thread, only to see that it was locked. And the answer I had prepared goes to waste. And I "ohhhhhh" lol. :hmm:

Yeah I was thinking that too. If we wanted to go back and use a quote from one of the old threads in a new one, so thanks for making them available. :)

But I feel like in the new "Shipping" dicussion, we'll probably get the same reasons for shipping or not shipping over again.

SHARKIE! HOW COULD YOU! ALL MY FAVORITE THREADS! LOCKED! LOCKED!

though I do believe I had something to do with that... *makes a sad puppy dog face*

Hey Kitsy, does it matter if you're only just above or below the word limit? 'Cause I'm getting tired of counting every word on my screen over and over again...

Awh, no, you don't need to be exactly at the word count! Going over is absolutely fine, and you can be a little bit under. It's a rough guide to stop people spamming.

Fatebringer, get over it. Stop making a fuss.

the only reason I said that was because sharkie got on to me about not posting fifty words in a post in Least Favorite AF Book, and get over it? honestly...

I'm glad I can be under, (I just post three lines and assume it's fifty words) what if we post way under it but the message is clear? I've actually seen that after the limit was set, and my curiousity perked up.

sorry for asking all this crap

Fatebringer. This is where the mods should step in.

I mean you become moderator cuz you are higly active in some forum and know some little things about grammar and english language. So they must know when the message is clear and good post even if it's just like 10 words, and when the message is spam 50 words count or not.

Uh, that is fairly unfeasible for us to monitor everybody's posts. We are fairly active, but there are a lot of threads to patrol and we can't just be "OK"ing certain posts.

The fifty-word rule is in place now, for a reason. If you are under it by a small amount, this is fine. But if we start saying: well, some short posts are good and others are bad, then it can easily devolve into Big Bad Modgodding if we deem someone's unsuitable and another's fine.

50-word rule is there. What we are saying by letting you be slightly (probably around no more than 10-15 words) under is: Abide by the spirit of the law, not the letter. We recognize that quantity does not mean quality. But generally, if you have something useful to say, it SHOULD take around 50 words.

Please, dear ones, stop splitting hairs. Rulez in place. Use 'em, plz.

Lotrfan, just so long as the posts are detailed and interesting, we don't care about the same points being discussed frequently. The shipping thread has been good quality on the whole so far, and it's been taken down loads of routes.

I know this is totally off subject, but I've got a really quick question. There isn't really any place to write it so I'll write it here. Mods, how did you become a moderator? I mean did someone just come up and say "Hey, you're a mod now" or what?

I'm just locking this thread as there's not really much point to it apart from showing the rules - if you've got questions, PM a mod. (I'll PM you now Mizora.)
