Take two
Name: He changes it every now and then for fun, but prefers to be called Ace Arion.
Age: After the first 10,000 years he stopped caring. It's been much longer now.
Gender: Male
Species: Human, Bringer.
Orientation: Insists he's pansexual. He might be saying this to sound more interesting, however.
Birthplace: Anaheim, California, World 882.
Appearance: Ace is absolutely average in terms of just about everything about him, physically. (Black hair, average height, green eyes...) This makes it hard for people to take him seriously when he tells them who he is and what he wants. He hates not being taken seriously, and to avoid that scenario, he is constantly well-dressed and well-groomed, to make a better impression. Unfortunately, this sometimes backfires and makes people take him less seriously
Ace loves to make an impression on people, and often wears magical artifacts in plain and clear view of the person he is talking to, goading them to ask about it. When they eventually do, he takes great pleasure in describing the item in the most confusing and over-exaggerated manner possible.
Positive Traits: Ace is highly intelligent through life experience. His time observing the butterfly effect allows him to see several steps ahead of others. Ace also has a strong moral compass that guides his actions and a fierce loyalty to a cause he deems worthy. Ace is adept in magic and is confident in his abilities. He is very trusting, almost to the point of naivete.
Negative Traits: Ace is immature for his position. He often makes rash decisions based on overconfidence because he believes that with his ability he is invincible. He is not, however, and he takes a big hit to his pride when that is proven to him. He is strangely selfish, in that although his morals guide his actions, his ultimate goal is his own happiness, and he often makes decisions based on this. The nature of his work sometimes leads to nasty mood changes.
Personality: The majority of the time, Ace is a well-spirited man. He speaks very extravagantly, often not caring whether or not the person he is talking to understands fully what he is saying or not. He has a smile on his face with near constancy while around other people. He is a show-off, and loves to astonish and impress people. As a result, he spins a ball of magic on his finger casually and often, and is prone to displays of theatrics. He likes to make people think that he knows everything and can do anything, but he doesn't know nearly as much as he lets on.
When he is in this mood, he states that he loves his job, and that he is the luckiest man in the multiverse. However, if you give him 100 years, in which a terrible experience happens or he is given an awful assignment, you will see a very different version of Ace. This version never smiles, and is quiet, introverted, jaded, and cynical. These moods could last for years before he gets over whatever trauma caused it.
In his free time between assignments, he often goes and makes assignments for himself. It genuinely makes him happy to help people, but he thinks that it would not count as helping if he did everything for someone, and so he often stays on the sidelines, offering occasional help and advice. He also enjoys watching watching the way the multiverse works, and has become excellent at recognizing and predicting the butterfly effect.
His greatest fear is that he will lose his sanity. Ace has hundreds and thousands of memories in his head, and he fears that he will lose himself in his own mind, slipping into a state where all he can see is his past. He already occasional has migraines and momentary losses of time, and this terrifies him.
History: Ace is the current "Bringer" for the Fates. The Fates are indeed a real group of people, that they are nothing how the are interpreted in our mythologies. Instead, picture a group of immortal deities who care little about mortals, only watching events as they unfold, and if they see a possible future on one of the many Worlds in the many dimensions, that they dislike, they send a mortal envoy (who is granted magic and timelessness) to change this future. The Bringer essentially brings fate, in this way. It is not a position you sign up for, and it's not one you can quit.
Ace came from World 882. Not much was different about his world from this one, except for the fact that the monkeys could fly. He lived an uneventful life until he met a very odd woman by the name of Nori Twine. Nori was the Bringer before Ace, and she had been doing the job for over a million years. Ace had no idea however, and only saw a stunning woman with an odd and charming personality. Ace and Nori eventually fell for each other, and Nori revealed what she truly was. Ace instantly believed her, and asked her question after question about her life and her line of work. Nori was much more than a lover to Ace. He considered her practically an angel, and thought that she could do no wrong.
Unfortunately, Nori lost her sanity after only a few short months. This sparked all of his fears. The way that she looked horrified him. He hated how he couldn't do anything to help her, and never wanted to feel so useless again. He also hated how, after all she had done, for so many people, next to no one knew her name.
When this slip into insanity happens, the Fates have a plan in place. Throughout a Bringer's line of work, they create a great deal of paradoxes and have many versions of themselves wandering the multiverse. The Fates find the futuremost one that isn't insane, and have them choose an heir to train and to take over the position. Nori, unprepared for such a situation, chose the first person that came to mind, Ace.
Ace then learned a number of skills. Ace can utilize any form of magic, as long as it is possible on the World that he is on. For example, if the World he is on is a "Harry Potter World", he is capable of using wands and incantations. He has his own personal supply of magic, which is purple. He is capable of morphing it into any shape he chooses. He is capable of teleporting from World to World, but if he is teleporting to one place on a world to another, he can only go limited distances. He can see the colors of a person's consciousness, which is something he barely understands. He's certain that he can do more, but unfortunately, the version of Nori training him also lost sanity, forcing him to go through the worst loss of his life, twice.
He considers himself not suited for his position, too rash and too emotional, but he does the best job he can because he believes in the person who gave the job to him.
Dreams: He wishes to reunite with another paradoxical Nori. He's searched for thousands upon thousands of years and is not going to give up anytime soon.
