Similarities between The Supernaturalist and Artemis Fowl

Postby optiguy » Sun Jul 20, 2008 3:37 pm

Has anyone noticed that The Supernaturalist and Artemis Fowl have similarities. Like, in The Supernaturalist Cosmo (or was it Stephan) wakes up shouting "Sell the Phonetix shares!" or something like that. Phonetix, as we all should know, was Jon Spiro's company Fission Chips' rival. There are more that I can't remember right now.

Well, the "creatures" had "blue sparks" flowing through their veins.

True. I never really thought of that.

I think the Supernaturalist was a good book, as good as Artemis Fowl. And since Colfers making a sequal, if he makes a full fledge series, itd be as good as Artemis Fowl. Anyone agree?

It has similarites to more than just Artemis Fowl. The satellite in The Supernaturalist was called Myishi, and the devil's tech guy was called Myishi, too, in The Wish List. Plus, Stefan Bashkir is one of Artemis's alter egos in The Arctic Incident. Funny how things work out like that.

I haven't read The Wish List yet. Is it good? I obviously haven't been paying enough attention, was Stefan Bashkir really one of Artemis' alter egos? I have to go read it again.

"No problem. I thought we´d go native. We´ll arouse less suspicion. I have passports and visas."
"Da. What is our cover?"
"What about Stefan Bashkir and his uncle Constantin?"
"Perfect. The chess prodigy and his chaperone."

-TAI, page 49.

It´s only a brief mention, but that only makes it more awesome that Colfer evolved it into a whole character for a later book.

Also - wouldn´t this rather go in the 'Eoin Colfer' section?

The only thing I've really noticed is his mention of Phosphorescence (Sp?) in almost every book. Even the one Spud Murphy I had a flick through at the library.

I love how Colfer just makes small references to his other books which only the fans will notice! Very awesome!
