I would say that perhaps the darker elements are for his older readers. I was 10 when I read the first AF and now I'm starting university. Eoin's just trying to keep his intial readers (who are now much older) and the ones who have only picked up his books recently. I'm beyond the target audience (8-13) but,oh well, I stil enjoy reading his books. Now that you say that, it is! Yeah its kinda weird. Maybe Eoin was going through a hard time or something. Who knows?
I don't think the AF books were ever quite as innocent as the first Harry Potter book. That's part of what I like about AF the most- it's not just obvius good vs. obvious evil.souq = sook i think. Tis what my geomography teacher told me, and she speaks with 3 accents every lesson. french irish and american. so she must be right! (she puts them on, by the way, no disrespect! ♥)
and yeah, I agree, its JUST like the Harry Potter books. the first started out very innocent, but just like Potter, he grew up and worse and worse things happenedd to him. I think it adds to the whole effect, it makes it more gripping, thrlling!
